Privacy policy

Last updated July 6, 2026

The short version: playing FanRide anonymously stores nothing about you on our servers. If you make an account, we store only your Google sign-in details and the rides you save. We set no cookies for anonymous visitors, and we never sell your data.

Playing anonymously

You can use FanRide without an account, and most people do. When you pick a team and a start year, those choices live in the page URL and in your own browser — they are never written to our servers. There is no anonymous profile, no server-side record of your ride, and nothing to delete, because nothing was stored.

If you create an account

Accounts are optional and exist only so you can save a ride to a permanent link and challenge other fans. Sign-in is Google only. When you sign in, we store:

  • Your Google account identifier, email address, and the name and profile image Google shares with us.
  • The sign-in connection to Google that keeps you logged in on return.
  • The rides you choose to save — the team and the season your fandom started — and any duels you create from them.
  • Whether you own the Superfan Pass. If you buy it, payment is handled by our processor; we never see or store your card details.

Cookies

Anonymous visitors get no cookies at all — there is nothing to consent to. Signing in sets a single session cookie so you stay logged in between visits. We use no advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking cookies, ever.

Analytics

We use PostHog to understand which features land — for example, whether a fan who finishes a ride goes on to share it. It identifies your browser with a first-party id kept in your own browser's localStorage, not a cookie, which is why FanRide has no cookie banner.

We capture only a fixed, documented set of product events. There is no autocapture, no session recording, and we never attach personal content to an event. If you sign in, your earlier anonymous activity is linked to your account id so we can measure whether fans come back — nothing more.

Who processes your data

We rely on a small set of service providers, each handling only what its job requires:

  • Google — sign-in (OAuth).
  • PostHog — product analytics.
  • Cloudflare — hosting and content delivery.
  • Neon — the database that holds account and saved-ride data.
  • Polar — payment processing for the Superfan Pass.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising. Providers act on our instructions to run the service.

Your choices

  • Play forever without an account — then there is nothing about you for us to hold.
  • Delete your account at any time. Deletion removes your profile, your saved rides, and the duels built from them.
  • Email us with any question or request about your data.

Data retention

Anonymous play leaves nothing to retain. Account data is kept until you delete your account, at which point your profile and everything tied to it is removed from our database.

Children

FanRide is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and the date above. Material changes will be called out clearly.
